Chances are if you've found your way to this blog you have an interest in some of the many different Fleer logo stickers that have been inserted into packs with cards or in some cases sold on their own since Fleer first included inserts with their Baseball and Football issues from 1960.
Through the years there have been decals, quiz cards, cloth patches, and stickers. There is actually quite a bit out there to collect once you start getting into it.
As I've been working on collecting these various sets, I've come to realize that there is relatively little information on most of these issues, and secondly that for many of these sets there are numerous variations either between different years where the sets appear to be similar, or in many cases variations within the same set.
I thought it would be fun to start posting information regarding the various Fleer sticker issues to share the information I've found out so far and also to see if there are other collectors who share an interest in this often overlooked area of sports card collecting.
My focus is going to be on Fleer Baseball and Football team logo sticker sets, as well as decals, cloth patches, and quiz cards. I will not be covering things like the Fleer Star Sticker sets of the mid-80s which contain players - this is going to only cover team stickers.
I welcome any feedback on the topics I will be posting. In many cases since published information is not available or incomplete, I will be making my best guess when covering certain topics. If you see anything that needs to be corrected, please let me know.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
extremely impressed.
ReplyDeleteFleerfan,
ReplyDeleteWow, you've certainly got a collector's niche in the stickers. I just love your header. It brought back instant memories of something I totally forgot about. I remember collecting all the teams and having them in special places in my shoeboxes. I can recall peeling them and placing a few here and there. The cloth stickers always had a few loose thread ends that had to be snipped off. Pull on them in the wrong direction and it could start to unravel the thing.
I also see some box bottoms listed in your blog. Have you collected any of the donut box cards?
