I came across an ebay seller who has a large amount of wire photos from World Series games from the mid 1960's to the early 1970's currently up for auction. In looking through the photos up for auction, I recognized a number of the action shots as being very similar to pictures featured on Topps World Series cards.
Lets take a look:

Topps World Series cards have always been one of my favorite subsets, which is why in looking through the wire photos some of the pictures made me instantly think of these cards. It was fun going through the collection of wire photos to see which ones I could match up to World Series cards.
Wow, Brooks is really up there! Great photo!
ReplyDeleteWow what A nice catch. Thus the Topps photos for the World Series Cards were really from the AP. I wonder if Topps paid the AP for the photos. (Or whoever took the photos sold them both to Topps and AP)
ReplyDeleteGreat Catch. I guess Topps bought the WS photos from the same guy AP did
ReplyDeleteGreat job as usual Jon-th last month or so has seen some really wonderful posts!
