If you are going to do any cooking for your Super Bowl party, then you might need to pick up some butter or margarine. Chiffon margarine would be a great choice as Chiffon included these NFL team decals in their products at some point during the early 1970's:
Here is the instruction sheet that came with the decals:
I had never seen these before until Steve from TheCowboysGuide.com was kind enough to send me pictures of the decals he has come across:
These are next to impossible to find, and most collectors aren't even aware of them. If anyone happens to have any of these I'd like to hear from you to see if you have any decals from teams I haven't pictured so I can add it to this post.
In case you are wondering about Chiffon margarine, it is the margarine that used the tag line "Its not nice to fool Mother Nature" in its ad campaign during the 1970s.
I'm wondering if these are from the late 1960s due to the absence of AFL/AFC teams. Also, I don't think that the 49ers were using that logo in the 1970s, but I may be mistaken.
ReplyDeleteAccording to a dealer that specializes in all types of odd-ball memorabilia like these, he has never seen any AFL teams with decals. If none exist, these may be early '60s.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid they can't be early 1960's given the Saints decal. As the Saints joined in 1967, my guess is that if there are no original AFL teams (the Colts which do have a decal are an AFC team) that these are probably late 1960s pre NFL-AFL merger. The other key is the NFL shield. They started using the NFL shield that is on the decals around 1969 or 1970.
ReplyDeleteThese are from 1969. the Washington Redskins sticker has the arrow helmet. They changed to the Lombardi "R" in 1970.
ReplyDeleteI just received 43 of the Redskin decals with the original display box
